What materials should be avoided for long-term storage?

Short-term packaging

There are some types of packing material that can be used for transporting objects, but which should not be used for long-term storage. This is because certain materials can damage an object, or cause it to deteriorate.

If packing material is required short-term when moving objects then non-inert materials, such as bubble wrap and polyurethane foam, can be used. However, the objects should not be left in these materials – as they can deteriorate over time, and this may start to damage the objects.
