We have discussed the risks to the object while in transit, but it is also important to assess the risks to the person or team involved in moving the object. It is good practice to complete a risk assessment when dealing with large, heavy, or potentially hazardous objects.
- Choose the appropriate equipment and method of transport when moving objects.
- Maintain a good level of communication between all persons involved with the move, to avoid potential misunderstandings or accidents.
- Always avoid putting yourself at any unnecessary risk, and wear the correct Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. steel toe-capped boots). If there are any concerns, it may be necessary to contact the Health and Safety Executive website on the Links and resources page.
